Red Trillium Press/Aqui, en la lucha: announces the publication of its second book collaboration with Cuban artists: El muro/The Wall
"Me siento muy satisfecho con los resultados del libro porque su diseño es muy contemporáneo, poco convencional y fiel a la idea original en que concebí los trípticos.
“I am extremely satisfied with the results of the book because it has a very contemporary design, it is unconventional and faithful to the original idea of my triptychs."
March 2009
Eduardo Hernandez Santos
“El muro/The Wall, what a really lovely production, particularly in its design - paper, interleaving, colors, binding, etc. just a beautiful object, to be treasured. Its "glitter," particularly that black paper, & the book's delicacy as form, seems perfect for Hernández’s subject; something both profoundly staged & artificial, & simultaneously rough & human, (though I haven't figured out yet, unless it's simply in the printing of the pictures, how this latter quality works).”

“I can image how brave must be to do a book like ‘’El Muro ‘’ in Cuba. I know Eduardo from the San Alejandro Art Academy and I think is he is a great photographer.”
Carlos Estévez, Cuban artist
“A very dramatic and powerful visual and literary statement of a hidden Cuban subculture. The juxtaposition of the walls and the human images in the nighttime gives one a feeling of entering a forbidden walled city. Disturbing, thought-provoking and very well done.”
Abigail Rorer Lone Oak Press
“A short note to thank you for "El Muro." It is indeed informative and a valuable document of its time.”
Thanks again . . . . With best wishes,

The past year has been a busy and adventurous time for the press. The summer saw a curated exhibition of Cuban prints and in the fall I was fortunate to have a 6 week artist residence in Viet Nam. The project that has consumed most of the waking hours this year is El muro, a celebration of life and passion.
When we first saw Eduardo Hernández Santos' photographs we thought El muro would be book. As with Almendrones it presents a view of the island from within, not from our eyes as tourists- los extranjeros but from eyes & voices of Cubans. El muro has been two years in creation and is a key to understanding and celebrating Cuban culture.
Enjoy exploring our site and contact us with questions about El muro or other projects.
